Tracking January 18 Saturday
Track laid 2:45. Time run 3:30. Temperature 50. Wind 6mph weather cloudy turning into sunny
Humidity 80%
Goal to track in snow/ it felt good
We tracked in the woods where snow still covered most of the ground, it didn’t seem to be a problem
3 things well
He was in tracking mode and I had to tell him to wait while I crawled under a half fallen tree on the track he did then we took off
I had dropped a clothes pin that I used for flagging the track, he found it and got rewarded for an extra article
Tracked in snow no problem
Improve on
Always work on trusting I saw a flag through an opening in the trees and wondered for a second did we miss a turn? why are we were not going in that direction, then as I followed Zane I realized we were going in a big square and would come to it after 2 left turns
For me to carry extra supplies when setting the track
We did a second short track
Track laid 3pm. Track run 345
An open square/ 2 right turns a little less snow in this area
Goal - just a short quick track going from patches of snow to ground to get in a little extra practice
always make a map. always carry the map in your pocket. are you filling out the goals form and making a map? how long are the legs? what is your food drop pattern? i'm asking the same questions every time....
